Auditors have 'substantially completed' their inspection into serious allegations of governance failure, poor financial management and fraud at Tower Hamlets LBC, it has emerged today.
In an update issued today, the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has confirmed big four consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has sent relevant information back to Tower Hamlets for fact-checking.
The East London borough and individuals have 10 working days to respond to the factual accuracy. From 25 September PwC will begin finalising the report, which must detail any matters where the council has failed to comply with its statutory best value obligations.
