The Audit Commission has launched a tool designed to help councils and their partners achieve better value for money from youth services during the spending squeeze.

The free ‘Services for young people starter pack' is a collaboration between the watchdog and the Confederation of Heads of Young People's Services (CHYPS). It provides organisations with a structured method of assessing their youth services – such as local youth clubs and leisure facilities – by drawing on comparative data about spending and outcomes.
