The Government's independent child protection expert, Professor Eileen Munro, has praised local authorities for devising innovative ways to help families.

But issuing her review of the child protection system on 22 May, Professor Munro said while reforms had reached a ‘watershed moment', there was now an urgent need to speed up efforts to create a more child-centred system.
