An equal pay lawyer has claimed up to 5,000 current and former staff at Wolverhampton City Council could make new equal pay claims, as figures reveal the local authority set aside almost £19m last year for settlements.

Speaking to The MJ, Equal Pay Legal director Darren Smith said many former council workers are still not aware they can make a claim against a former employer up to six years after they stopped working for them.
