Authority switches banks

Portsmouth City Council has become the latest local authority to announce it is switching bank accounts from the Co-operative to Barclays Bank. The switch follows an announcement by the Co-operative that it is ending its services to local authorities.

Portsmouth City Council has become the latest local authority to announce it is switching bank accounts from the Co-operative to Barclays Bank. The switch follows an announcement by the Co-operative that it is ending its services to local authorities.

 ‘Most people who pay money to the council or receive payments will notice absolutely no difference, apart from a different bank appearing on cheques and other documents,' said cabinet member for resources, Cllr Lee Mason.
