Autumn statement: Public sector workers take another pay hit

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has announced a further pay squeeze for public sector workers in his autumn statement.

Following the current two-year pay freeze, Mr Osborne announced another cap to an average of just 1% for the following two years – 2013-15. With current interest rates standing at 5%, the cap represents an effective pay cut for public sector workers.
