Councils must avoid being ‘restrained' by the elected mayoral model if looking to unlock local growth, property leaders have warned.

An advisory document issued by the British Property Federation (BPF) today said local authorities working to boost regional economies now needed to avoid being ‘caught in a constitutional quagmire' of governance issues including the elected mayoral model.
