A scheme piloted by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) has been backed by children's minister, Tim Loughton, as a future method of supporting vulnerable families.

The Volunteers in Child Protection project, which was established following the tragic death of Victoria Climbie in 2000, has trained local people to help support families with children at risk and subject to child protection plans.
