Balls signals the rebirth of Prudence

Ed Balls this week promised the rebirth of Prudence plus some old wine in new bottles, says Michael Burton.

It has been a long time coming but at last Labour has begun to address its policy vacuum. And although what Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls said in his speech this week was hardly the Gettysburg Address, at least it showed signs of having some policy thought behind it.

The fact that it was immediately condemned by the GMB will have done Labour no harm considering accusations that its leadership is in hock to the unions.
