Basildon BC has said local government reorganisation is ‘essential' for devolution to work in Essex.

With the county council and the region's two unitary authorities, Thurrock and Southend, submitting an ‘expression of interest' to ministers in a devolution deal, Basildon has hit out at the idea of this happening without a structural change to local government.
