Basildon Council has won its High Court battle to evict residents from Dale Farm, the country's largest illegal traveller site.

Basildon Council has won its High Court battle to evict residents from Dale Farm, the country's largest illegal traveller site.

Delivering his verdict on 12 October, Mr Justice Ouseley said the council's actions were lawful and not 'disproportionate' - and that if the authority was not allowed to clear the 400 residents from the site in Essex, public confidence in the planning system and criminal law would suffer.
