Benefit 'legal loophole' could cost Bristol £3m

One of Britain's largest city councils has urged ministers to close a ‘legal loophole' it warns could cost the authority £3m a year in unfunded housing benefit claims.

Senior officials from Bristol City Council's housing team have written to the Department for Work and Pensions, calling on Whitehall to review an ‘anomaly' allowing a growing number of organisations to claim ‘inflated' housing benefit on behalf of their clients.
