There is ‘unequivocal evidence' to justify council investment in walking and cycling infrastructure – including direct interventions on health grounds – a government adviser has claimed.

Dr Adrian Davies, a Whitehall consultant on secondment from Bristol City Council, said ‘almost all the studies report highly-significant economic benefits' to such schemes.
