Last September's Scottish independence referendum was one of the most seismic political moments in recent political memory.

Unleashing a degree of passion and commitment from both ‘yes' and ‘no' camps and galvanising a degree of genuine popular engagement rarely witnessed, the leaders of the three main parties soon realised the preservation of the 307-year political Union could not survive maintenance of the existing settlement.
