Use best value guidance as 'a weapon to fight cuts'

The chief executive of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action urged members to fight council spending cuts.

The outgoing chief executive of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) has urged members to keep fighting council spending cuts.

Kevin Curley gave his final address to a NAVCA conference last week, before he retires in March 2012. He told delegates to use the best value statutory guidance, published by the DCLG in September, as a ‘weapon' against councils reducing grants and budgets.
