Betts calls for clarity over PM cuts figures

The Prime Minister has been asked to explain why he is describing recent local government cuts as 'just 2.3%', when the figures have not been backed up by the Treasury or the DCLG.

The Prime Minister has been asked to explain why he is describing recent local government cuts as 'just 2.3%', when the figures have not been backed up by the Treasury or the DCLG. 

Commons committee chair, Clive Betts has written to David Cameron demanding to know how the figures - which have been used by both the PM and the Chancellor, have been calculated.
