Betts: South Yorkshire police must face Casey-style inspection

South Yorkshire Police must submit to a full independent inspection, following evidence the service ignored widespread claims of child sexual exploitation (CSE), an influential MP has demanded.

South Yorkshire Police must submit to a full independent inspection, following evidence the service ignored widespread claims of child sexual exploitation (CSE), an influential MP has demanded.

Chair of the communities and local government committee, Clive Betts, made the comments in response to news reports revealed two former senior South Yorkshire Police officers are being investigated by police watchdogs over their handling of CSE.

Evidence unearthed in a police database reveals more than 200 young girls were suspected of being abused.
