Government plans to cut the number of hospital readmissions need to be implemented sensitively, or they could cost the NHS £800m a year, a new report has warned.

The report by the NHS Confederation and Foundation Trust Network, warns that proposals to penalise Trusts who readmit patients within 30 days could have serious consequences for both the patients and the healthcare authorities.
