Conwy CC has warned the Welsh Government against pressing ahead with plans to scrap half the councils in Wales, claiming the impact would be ‘calamitous’.

Conwy CC has warned the Welsh Government against pressing ahead with plans to scrap half the councils in Wales, claiming the impact would be ‘calamitous'.

In a letter to the Welsh public services minister Leighton Andrews, the council said the current plans to reduce the number of local authorities from 22 to eight or nine would disrupt services.
