A leading think-tank has warned the ‘Big Society' would worsen the divide between the North and South.

Ippr North's new report, entitled Can the Big Society be a fair society?, claimed voluntary groups in the North relied more on public sector funds than their southern counterparts, and would therefore be hit harder by the spending cuts.
