A ‘vanguard' Big Society authority, Sutton has developed a strategy to encourage more community involvement, as its leader Cllr Sean Brennan reports

For us, becoming a Big Society vanguard was a way to share our experiences with others, a way to challenge ourselves to go further and a way to talk directly with government about how they could help. Most importantly, it aroused the curiosity and enthusiasm of our residents.
