A Whitehall campaign to ease the cost of employment tribunals and tackle the rising number of cases sought by ‘no win-no fee' lawyers could help councils save millions of pounds, town hall leaders have said.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) published proposals to improve the way workplace disputes are resolved on 27 January, while the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) simultaneously announced plans to charge employees a deposit fee for initiating a tribunal against their employer.
