Blackpool Council's chief executive Steve Weaver, has announced he will be retiring from the authority at the end of this year.

The move means he will be able to support the smooth transition to the new administration over the next few months while allowing fresh perspective as Blackpool moves into crucial service and budget decisions affecting 2012 onwards.
