The 'blame game' in the absence of economic recovery

Jonathan Werran looks at how a blame game of the absence of economic recovery has begun ahead of the 21 March Budget.

It looks like the blame game for the absence of a ‘green shoots' economic recovery has begun in advance of the 21 March Budget.

At this point in the electoral cycle, ministers had targeted a reboot for ‘Coalition 2.0'. On taking over following the 2010 election, the game plan was that with morale lifted – having proved to a doubtful nation that deficit-reduction targets were being met and the markets reassured – coalition ministers could plot the second half of the parliamentary term with some loose change in their back pockets.
