Boost for upper-tier councils after LEP decision

Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) core functions are expected to be transferred to upper-tier local authorities in areas without a devolution deal by March, ministers have said.

Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) core functions are expected to be transferred to upper-tier local authorities in areas without a devolution deal by March, ministers have said.

The County Councils' Network (CCN) had argued for LEP functions to be handed to upper-tier councils after ministers launched an information gathering exercise on the practical implications of chancellor Jeremy Hunt's proposed transfer.
