Borough loses court battle over academy

The leader of Barking & Dagenham LBC has branded a High Court decision a ‘slap in the face for local democracy’.

The leader of Barking & Dagenham LBC has branded a High Court decision to turn a local school into an academy as a ‘slap in the face for local democracy'.

The London borough lost a long-running battle last week to stop the then education secretary Michael Gove turning Warren Comprehensive School into an academy.
