Town hall bosses have made public their frustration at continuing delays to the announcement of new public health budgets – despite rumours of an imminent settlement.

The Department of Health (DoH) was expected to publish the ring-fenced public health budgets for local authorities in December, but Whitehall officials confirmed before Christmas that the announcement would instead be made this year.
