Council bosses have defended their track record after an Ofsted report claimed half of children in care were given hardly any notice before being moved.

Responding to the children's care monitor annual survey, which claimed that 55% of children were given a week or less notice before being moved to another placement, the chairman of the Local Government Association's children and young people board, Cllr David Simmonds, said social workers were faced with ‘difficult decisions on a daily basis'.
