Council bosses have snubbed the Government's efforts to establish a pro-growth procurement strategy.

Council bosses have snubbed the Government's efforts to establish a pro-growth procurement strategy, arguing it would disadvantage the sector and do nothing to boost local economies.

The rejection follows publication of a £70bn five-year ‘pipeline' of government contracts by Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude, part of his package of measures to reform how the public sector buys goods and services.
