Bosses warn LEPs 'may not be ready' for funds

Business leaders warn that many local enterprise partnerships may not be ready to take advantage of the funding opportunities.

Business leaders have warned that many of the UK's 39 local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) may not be ready to take advantage of the funding opportunities set to come their way.

Chancellor George Osborne is understood to support proposals from former deputy prime minister and the coalition's adviser on growth, Lord Heseltine, to devolve a £58bn pot of business funding to LEPs.
