The leader of Bournemouth Council has resigned following a vote of no confidence last night.

Cllr Peter Charon failed to win the support of his own ruling Conservative group after facing months of difficulties at the council. Deputy leader Cllr John Beesley has stepped in to become the authority's interim leader.
