Cllr Peter Charon has resigned as leader of Bournemouth Council with immediate effect.

On 16 January, Cllr Charon lost a vote of no confidence from within his own ruling Conservative party. The motion followed months of political scandals at the coastal authority - including the sacking of cabinet member Nicola Greene - described by local Tory rebels as 'the last straw'.
