Brent LBC has proposed to offer business rates discounts of up to £5,000 to local firms who sign up to pay their staff the £9.15 an hour London Living Wage.

This one-off discount – the cost of which would be shared between central government (50%), the Greater London Authority (20%) and Brent (30%) – could be worth up to five times the expense of securing accreditation as a Living Wage Employer from the Living Wage Foundation.
