It’s time to take a more compassionate approach to the care of the elderly – seeing the person – not their particular diagnosis, writes Maureen McEleney

Care for the elderly has become a more complex and demanding area as older population numbers boom. With more individuals requiring local government care and assistance – from housing providers, adult social care and health organisations, there has been a real shift in both talent and end-user demands.

As anyone involved in adult care will recognise, the challenge of moving from pure personalisation of services to a more holistic approach to care has already begun. Identifying strategic solutions that address the real barriers to success is an increasingly common challenge.
