Broxbourne chief on 'special leave'

Chief executive of Broxbourne DC, Mike Walker, given 'special leave' amid choice on whether to axe role or merge with other position.

The chief executive of Broxbourne DC, Mike Walker, has been granted 'special leave' as the authority considers scrapping the role of merging it with another senior position.

In the meantime, Broxbourne's director of community services, Jeff Stack, has agreed to act as head of paid service.

'The council is considering changing its management structure to make a saving in future revenue expenditure by deleting or amalgamating the post of chief executive officer,' a statement issued by the council said.
