Half a century ago the opening of Buckinghamshire CC's new County Hall was met with heavy criticism.

The Brutalist design was the work of the then-county architect and planner Fred Pooley, whose work imagining a city for 250,000 people led to the building of the equally-modern Milton Keynes.
