BT connects, wirelessly

BT has rolled out its municipal wireless cities programme, providing wi-fi connectivity in outdoor urban areas to Manchester, Belfast and Waltham Forest LBC.

The company is also currently installing wi-fi in Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Cardiff, Sheffield, Bristol and Westminster. BT's networks use council property such as lampposts and civic buildings to install access points which are linked to the Internet.
