Council leaders have warned MPs that continued budgetary pressure could hinder local authorities' ability to support the Government's flagship welfare programme.

In written evidence published by the Commons' work and pensions committee on 5 September, the Local Government Association (LGA) detailed some of the challenges councils face implementing the Universal Credit (UC) scheme.
