Budget predicts public spending austerity despite tax cuts

Local government and the wider public sector were hardly holding their breath about the Budget and they will not be disappointed.

The real challenge lies ahead with the spending review, details to be revealed on June 26, because the Chancellor has announced the extra cuts will be not £10bn but £11.5bn.
