Building a very 21st century garden city

Dr Patrick Clarke argues that it is possible to create new environments that draw on the characteristics of garden cities and which provide communities with sustainable building to tackle the housing crisis

As the UK grapples with a chronic shortage of housing, the case for 21st century garden cities has never been more apparent.

The resurgence of interest in Garden Cities began in 2011 with the TCPA report, Re-imagining Garden Cities for the 21st Century. The idea has continued to gain momentum ever since Lord Wolfson announced in 2013 that he would devote his £250,000 Economics Prize to the subject.
