Building talent from within

Cllr Bryan Smith explains an innovative approach to retaining talent in Calderdale MBC’s workforce which has saved £5.5m and is supporting the economy

Talent, skills and potential – everyone has them, but how do employers nurture, retain and make the most of them? How do we inspire staff to achieve their best and go the extra mile for our communities?

That's what our Future Workforce Programme (FWP) aims to achieve. Launched in September 2014, it's an inspirational approach to developing the motivated, transformational workforce of the future. It's about keeping the right balance of skills, abilities, experience and knowledge within the council and nurturing our employees to meet local people's changing needs.
