Burt: Single budgets are only answer to care crisis

The long-term solution to reducing bed-blocking in hospitals is to merge budgets and for the public to pay more for adult care, according to social care minister Alistair Burt.

The long-term solution to reducing bed-blocking in hospitals is to merge budgets and for the public to pay more for adult care, according to social care minister Alistair Burt.

Mr Burt insisted the short-term answer was not more government money but an uplift in standards across the NHS to the level of the best performers.
