LONDON COUNCILS

Capital concerns

With the mayoral election barely six months away and a Housing Bill making its way through Parliament, Ipsos MORI’s latest research provides sobering reading for those whose job it is to tackle London's housing crisis. Victoria Harkness explains

Housing is now the number one ‘top of mind' issue for Londoners. In our latest research, conducted with London Councils, 54% of residents living in the capital spontaneously mention housing as among the most important issues facing London, an increase of 17 percentage points since 2013, displacing transport and the economy (now just 22%) as the most cited issues.

Twenty per cent see it as among the most important issues facing Britain today – its highest level since 1974 according to Ipsos MORI's latest monthly Issues Index.
