No capital gain from London

Less than one in four (24%) people living outside London feel their local area derives any economic benefit from the capital, pollsters have reported.

Less than one in four (24%) people living outside London  their local area derives any economic benefit from the capital, pollsters have reported.

Negative perceptions about London's influence on national life dominated a survey of 4,166 adults from 16 major UK cities, which was conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Centre for Cities think tank.

According to the Centre for Cities report issued today, nearly two-thirds (64%) of respondents said the location of Whitehall and Parliament meant political decisions are too strongly focused on London.
