Cardiff expands its top team

Michael Burton reports on how Cardiff Council has increased the size of its management team at no extra cost to its budget.

While many councils have been cutting management, Cardiff Council is doing the opposite. Its new administration has decided it needs permanent skilled senior staff to help deliver its agenda and is increasing the size of its management team at no extra cost to its budget. Michael Burton reports.

At a time when most local authorities have been cutting senior management – and often discovering gaps in expertise as a result – one major city is doing the opposite.
