Cardiff names final five appointments

Cardiff City Council has named the remaining five directors, who have been appointed to its new-look senior team.

All the candidates went through a rigorous interview and assessment process, including interviews by members on cross-party panels.

Chris Hespe has been appointed as director of sport, leisure and culture. Mr Hespe joins from Kent CC, where he led the culture and sport group.

Andrew Gregory has been appointed as director of strategic planning, highways, traffic and transport. He will join Cardiff from Nottingham City Council, where he is currently head of regeneration and planning.

Shaun Jamieson joins Cardiff City Council as county solicitor. He is currently head of the local government practice at Hugh James solicitors.

Jane Forshaw has been appointed as director of environment. She joins from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which she is currently assistant director for green enterprises.

And Marie Rosenthal has been appointed as county clerk and monitoring officer (democratic services). She joins from Forest of Dean DC, where she is currently group manager and solicitor to the council.

‘I am pleased that we have concluded the recruitment to the director posts and look forward to having a new senior team, which is being delivered at no extra cost to the council budget, in place,' said council leader, Cllr Heather Joyce.
