Chief executives have warned ministers against using council tax to fund social care, as a survey reveals fresh concerns about the financial pressures services face.
The president of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) and Doncaster MBC's top officer, Jo Miller, this week warned using council tax to plug funding gaps in care services would ‘only exacerbate existing imbalances across the country' and ‘further drive a regressive and unequal system'.
