The reintroduction of an inspection regime for adult social care could risk councils being ‘set up to fail', says the deputy chief executive of the Local Government Association (LGA).

Sarah Pickup has also indicated that she would not support any plan by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to bring in one-word quality ratings similar to those used by Ofsted as part of the new regulatory regime due to begin next year.
