Balancing diminishing resources with ever increasing service demands is leading many authorities to pursue commercialisation to help bridge the gap, writes Dave Fergus, a specialist in service commercialisation.

The pressure on the public purse is increasing and 2016/17 for many is a watershed year.

There is a greater expectation on service quality and speed of delivery with customers' behaviours changing as to how they access and use services along with the ever- shifting regional and national agendas to consider.
