Arts organisations may have criticised last month's Budget for failing to address challenges facing the cultural sector, but Calderdale is one place with a positive local story to tell.
Culture is at the forefront during this particularly significant year for the metropolitan borough. It is 50 years since the formation of Calderdale and the local authority, and it is also the culmination of the council's Vision 2024. Beginning in 2018, this strategy has focused on creating a place where people can, says the council, realise their potential ‘whether your voice has been heard or unheard in the past'.
